Hi All
I just came across this description of a Jewish Healing Meditation and I was struck by the similarity between this method and Hatsurei Ho.
(Source: http://www.sacredtherapy.com/meditate.shtml )
This is very much like one of my waka!
Breath
As I’m breathing in
God is breathing out to me
As I’m breathing out
God is breathing me to him
In this way we become one.
Perfect instructions for Joshin Kokyu ho!
A lovely description of feeling full of Reiki: "resting in the radiance of God's loving presence"
Sounds like a description of the translation of Reiju!
So, was Judaism also an influence on Mikao Usui?
Was this meditation written by a Jewish Reiki practitioner?
Or, is this just another example of a universal spiritual practice?

Meditation: Becoming a Vessel of Light
Take a few minutes to relax and become centered by paying attention to your breath...notice any tensions, tightness or holdings in your body and just allow yourself to deepen into a state of relaxation, allowing yourself to breath effortlessly...With each in-breath imagine that you are breathing in the divine out-breath and with each out-breath imagine that you are sending your breath back to its source in the divine...
Now imagine that above your head flows a river of white light, flowing from the heavens down to the crown of your head where it enters your body and begins to fill you with light, filling every organ and indeed every cell of your body with radiance and warmth, bringing healing energy to your entire body and your entire being.....As this light fills you, see yourself as a radiant and luminous being of light....Now imagine that you are also surrounded by light in all directions so that you are both filled with light and surrounded by light....
Let yourself bask in the light of the infinite, the "Or Ein Sof,"" and feel your body becoming lighter and lighter as you rest in the radiance of God's loving presence...
(Optional for healing) Now let yourself also become a channel for healing, allowing yourself to both receive and send healing energy out into the universe...You may wish to picture a person or persons to whom you wish to send healing energy....As you hold them in your mind and heart, share your light with them....Send them healing energy through the light emanating from your hands and fingertips....Let yourself both receive and send blessings for a complete healing--"refuat ha'nefesh urefuat ha'guf" --a healing of body and soul.
As you bring this meditation to a close, become aware once more of your breath and the boundaries of your body...the gentle rise and fall of your chest...become aware of your presence in the room where you are sitting and then gently open your eyes...
