Does she use that symbol as initiatory or as another healing/treatment symbol

I am also interested to know, that if someone replaces DKM with a self-picked symbol, and attunes a person to master level to that symbol, then this master, when initiating the third person, is still using DKM although not apparently or consciously??


As an analogy, i m taught that 'a' sounds 'aay', if i teach a person that 'b' sounds 'aay', and that person teaches a third person, this third person will refer the same sound 'aay' but will recognizze it as 'b'...

Silly things popping up in my mind, i feel i need some sleep as it is already 1.30 am

She uses it during the master level initiation. As far as I know it`s not used during treatment.

Wow! thats an interesting thought! It might be a good testbed to use in guaging the importance of intention. I mean to intend to pass the masters blessing to someone while not really using the true master symbol DKM. Very interesting indeed. It looks like you have the most interesting thoughts at 1:30 am Salman!

yes, many reiki circles nowadays believe that Master symbol was 'added' by Takata Sensei...

some would be led to believe that Usui Sensei 'added' the symbols into his system later on with the help of Hayashi Sensei...

also there are claims that though Ushida and Hayashi were masters students of same duration, it is Ushida who became the president of Reiki Ryoho Gakkai and this led (probably) Hayashi Sensei to establish his clinic in isolation of Ushida.


since reiki history seems to be enveloped within mists and debates, i feel that we must develop a tolerance for different versions whilst sticking to what we ourselves personally believe, unless, of course, we find a conclusive evidence against what we believe is true!

If Usui Sensei had been living today, he might have had added a sixth precept to the gokai

"just for today, give due thought to different versions"

well, as far as i can understand the sequence Jim, it is not as much as the intention of master that brings about initiation, rather it is more precisely his ability to 'hold' that intention

my view on the question i floated, is that DKM has two aspects : one it empowers a master to pass on 'something' and secondly, when correctly used, it empowers the master to pass on exactly that DKM which he himself holds....

if we choose to pick some symbol in place of DKM, we are only tampering with second part of above role

Sooooo many Reiki out there some are genuine with genuine peeps and you know they are doing it with true intent ( THE key word ) but when you see Money Reiki etc etc....is it no wonder that we dont get taken seriously at times???

In the early part of this decade I became
a Reiki Usui "Master" teacher. At that time
I was unaware of the many different styles
of Reiki. When I became aware of other new
versions I was not surprized. John Harvey Gray
one of Takata's students is still practicing
not to far from where I live. I have often
thought of signing up to find out how different
his style is from mine. Then I catch myself and
know that my simple style works. The symbols I
was taught bring reverence to my practice. CKR,
HSZSN,SHK,DKM, & the Raku enhance the energy
level when attuning a student.
