These sacred plants aren't dangerous in and of themselves, it is our emotional and psychological relationship with them which becomes dangerous.....
I have a family full of addicts of one kind or another....my brother was a heroin addict for years then eventually commited suicide after having been 'clean' for 2 years.... ( he started out on glue!)
when I first started out on my healer development 'journey' ( cheesy phrase)I used to enjoy a couple of joints...as part of my course once requirement was 'no abuse of recreational substances'.......so I asked my teacher to define the word abuse in this context...and she said well if you enjoy a couple of joints theres no problem with that by abuse she meant having the NEED to take recreational drugs as a way to get through the day... so many of friends enjoy a smoke and theres nothing wrong with that but I haven't touched it for a couple of years, because for me it stopped becoming enjoyable, instead of 'opening my mind and having a good giggle, it clouded my mind and numbed my senses and I could feel that detrimental effect in my system for days after a smoke, so I knocked it on the head..... but I still enjoy a good drink!! but i a hangover lasts days now and not because I drink loads but because I'm getting older!! *cries*
I've been having an interesting conversation with a young man from the Netherlands ( on a nother board) he is a deeply spiritual man and a HUGE advocate of mind expanding sacred plants......he's a big meditaor also but his experiences with these plants are far more revealing to him than meditation...thankfully my experience has proved the other way round, ahahahah
