Hi all! I'm Juli.

I was attuned almost 2 years ago for Reiki levels 1 and 2 in the Usui/Tibetian System of Healing.
Earlier this week I have been attuned for Okuden part 2 level 3 in the tradition of the Usui Reiki Ryoho.

I know what my Reiki Master Teacher told me but I want some second opinions from a reiki minded community.

This does mean that I have been attuned as Reiki Master, correct? Am I ok with describing myself as a Reiki Master? Should I practice using the Master symbol I have learned and been attuned to more before I should use the words, "I am a Reiki Master" when talking to others?

Technicalities aside, I love doing reiki as much as I love learning about it! I'm here to learn and share knowledge with others interested in Reiki and other healing modalities too. I'm definitely focusing on Reiki right now because There is so much information out there and I want to understand it better.

I aspire to teach Reiki one day! I know I have a ways to go, as I incorporate Reiki ideals and ethics into my life 24/7. I still have many things to reflect on and change. I am so very happy with everything so far! I'm learning to be more than proud of myself for doing good things, I'm learning to do good in all ways just for the sake of being a good person.

PS Is there a way to change my profile name while still connecting with my facebook?

Use DKM in whatever way your style taught you to. Me, i use it only very rarely. once in years.

Hi Juli - welcome to the Lounge

In my understanding, in the tradition of Usui Reiki Ryoho, there were two parts of Okuden (Deeper or Inner Teachings) (zenki, part 2 and kouki, part 2) and these are roughly equivalent to Usui Shiki Ryoho's 2nd Degree. The equivalent of the Reiki Master level is usually called Shinpiden (Mystery or Spiritual Teachings). So what does it say on your certificate and manual (assuming you received these)? Do you know the lineage of your recent teacher?

Yes, I also love learning about Reiki as much as practising and teaching it! I am still learning after 13 years!

I had never heard of the mudras, even from books. I had learned (from books and my first RMT) that reiki automatically works for the good of all good.

Perhaps he and she are both correct. I find quite a difference in what I feel in my own body and thoughts as I do reiki for someone else after practicing the mudras, even before being attuned to the master symbols). I cant (yet) find anything in any book describing much of what my second teacher taught me, and yet it undeniably seems to work.

After 1.5 years of doing reiki I had a few nervous breakdowns. I felt like everyone I knew was out to take advantage of me among other negative feelings.

I had always felt good when doing reiki, but the reactions of the people I'd do it for seemed much more profound than anything I felt (until learning about mudras).

My 2nd RMT also practices Shamanism and many other healing modalities. I went to see her for soul retrieval (a couple of months before taking RM class from her) because I was so desperate for change. I couldn't believe that the world was "bad" I felt like it had to be me. I had an amazing experience which left me feeling far better, as if I really was able to turn a leaf overnight.

I suppose that it's possible that I accumulated negative energies from doing reiki for others and not myself regularly. She has not told me that's what happened, I have come to this conclusion myself because of how different I feel now that I've been doing the mudras.

So, the reason I want a second opinion is because I wish I had learned about the mudras from my 1st RMT, or much sooner after. I feel as though my 2nd RMT gave a much more complete education, but how do I KNOW unless I ask many others? Experience did not teach me that I needed to protect myself with any more than CKR. Part of me feels as though I was meant to go through all this to gain knowledge and respect for Reiki, but I do not want to teach people incompletely in the future.

I'll have to ask her, I do not have it written down or in memory, she did mention her lineage and William Lee Rand is part of it, although that's the only name I recognized. However, William Lee Rand and others have attuned my 1st RMT also.

It says Okuden part 2 level 3 in the tradition of the Usui Reiki Ryoho on my RM certificate. I feel like she told me Shinpindin is Reiki Master Teacher level and not to call myself this until learning further.

Maybe. That depends on how your teacher(s) taught you.

There are a lot of variations in the way Reiki is taught to students, so it's possible the answer to your question is "yes".

I would encourage you to ask your attuning teachers if it is okay to do so, because describing yourself as a RM may imply that you have a certificate that bears that title.

Practice = Good!

Regardless of how you describe yourself to others, if you feel included to practice with the RM symbol then go for it!
