Hi guys,

A friend and Reiki 2 student of mine just came to me with a question. His girlfriend is pregnant. He gives her Reiki treatments from time to time. Now his mom's cousin, who is also a Reiki practitioner, warned that he should not perform Reiki on her stomach..., that this could somehow affect the babies natural development and possibly cause harm!(???!!!)

As I do not have any experience with this...., I have never practiced Reiki with a pregnant woman... I thought it would be best to check here first so I can give a more educated answer. That being said my first reaction was .... How can something as natural as Reiki, negatively affect the natural development of the unborn child??? If anything I would have thought the child would benefit from the interaction with it's father and the loving energy that is Reiki.

Any thoughts?

I'm afraid that's perfectly true, because the earlier the child is exposed to Reiki and the more frequently the child experiences the healing energies of Reiki, the more likely the child will grow into a person who is more aware, more compassionate than others... and that is a serious threat to some Reiki practitioners because the child may prove to have more potential than they! Now that's dangerous!!!

Haha...just what I thought...cant be goin' around birthing little enlightened smilling Buddhas now...What would the world come to???!!

When volunteering at a hospital a
nurse dropped by to take advantage
of a Reiki session with me.

Seven months into her pregnancy her
first intro to Reiki. She said she's
always so busy she does not feel
movement but during the Reiki session
she could feel the baby moving around.
It seemed like she really connected
with her baby. After the session she
left feeling refreshed and ready to go
back to her busy nursing day.
