Hi Gary
Welcome to the Lounge!
The only stupid questions are ones that are not asked
Asking even the most simple questions can often be helpful to beginners and more experienced practitioners alike. Newbies can get their answers and the more experienced practitioners are forced to re-examine their understanding and sometimes this can benefit them because they come to realise how their current understanding has developed from their original understanding i.e. they have (hopefully) progressed in their understanding which they are then able to share with others.

Re: Hello
Hi Gary.
I feel Shunryo Suzuki, the founder of the San Francisco Zen Center (and a few other zen centers) said it best when he said:
"In the beginner's mind there are endless possibilities, in the experts there are few."
Welcome.
