Hi,
I live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm a recent Reiki Master.
What brought me to this path I'm not sure. I recall seeing a movie when I was a child about a woman who had a gift. She would touch people and they would heal, but upon doing so she'd absorb whatever illness they had. Eventually it became very public and she was turned into a celebrity and people would come from all over to be touched by her. Sceptics and doctors would analyse her and her life because chaotic until one day she ups and leaves. Then one day whilst in the desert filling her car at a petrol station a small child sit waiting in another vehicle for her father. The child is bald. The lady introduces herself and we realise the child has a terminal illness. Upon leaving the lady asks if she may have a hug and she hugs the child. We, the audience, know she has absorbed the child's illness and now will die.
I must have been about 9 years old when I saw that movie, but I thought at the time how wonderful it would be to be able to touch people and help to improve their lives. That thought stayed with me throughout my life.
Now I know Reiki isn't quite that dramatic, but it's the essence of love and genuine desire to ease people's pain whether that be physical or spiritual to which Reiki came to my attention.
