    Hello

Post by gerli78 on Tue Jul 19, 2011 9:02 pm

Hi everyone, I am new to this site, just registered yesterday.
I received my 1st level 2 weeks ago, and it has been an interesting experience since.
I've also been able to help my friend, and the sensations i've been getting fromit myself are amazing.
However, I've emerging questions, that pop up each time I practise Reiki.
Can Reiki cause you to be angry? To me it seems that it could be the part of the healing and purifying process, but at the moment I'm doubting my knowledge and feelings about everything that's to do with Reiki.
    Please help!
I would appreciate any comments, suggestions.
    Gerli

    Hi Gerlie

    Welcome to the Lounge!
    cheers

Do you mean can Reiki make you angry while you are practicing or do you mean can it make the person you are giving Reiki to angry?

    Thank you for your reply.
I mean the person whom i do the Reiki can get angry.
I was just taken by the power of the anger, which came after the 4th session. I guess it is the sign that the healing process has began...
And i didn't get a chance to ground him...

    Hi Gerli

Yes, anger can sometimes be a part of the healing process, as can tears or even laughter.

Hopefully, this anger was not directed at you? Shocked

Where was this anger directed? Was it at the client himself i.e. was he angry at himself or at his condition? Or was there just a feeling of anger without any specific focus?
Would he describe himself as an angry person or have you known them to become angry before they had a Reiki session, if you know the person?

If you feel it appropriate, you may like to share the Reiki Principles with this person and ask them to begin reciting them in the morning and evening (the same as you presumably do? Smile)

    Just for today
    I let go of anger
    I let go of worry
    I am grateful
    I work hard
I am kind to (myself and) others

You could also suggest ways of channelling this anger constructively, e.g. into vigorous exercise or sport (as long as it isn't going to hurt anyone!). Another tip is that when you become aware that you are getting angry, you have a choice to follow it through or to pause, take a deep breath and decide that you will not become angry and breathe out nice and slowly.

An important thing, though, is not to blame yourself. Remember that we only facilitate healing to occur in others - it is they that do the healing and their own body and mind that chooses how that healing will occur. You are there just to kickstart the process with the help of Reiki.

    Hope that helps Smile

    Colin,

Thank you for encouraging words! I'm really grateful!
No, the anger was not directed at me, it's just I happened to be on a receiving end at that moment Shocked
I think i was more shocked at the powerful response I got from the session. However I must admit, being new to it, I did start to doubt everything for a moment, but then the "cloud" lifted and I found my ground and also the understanding that it is merely a response of his body to the healing process.
The person tends to control all his emotions whether good or bad, so it's quite a difficult "nut" for me to crack Smile

As I said I am very new at it, so there is a lot of exploring for me to do and lots of interesting moments yet to come. I'm open to it, and i want to know all at once Smile (my downside of not being very patient). It's all the new sensations in my body and on a recipients body that I want to interpret, sometimes using just my intuition, as there is no "user manual" Smile

My mentor is actually in another country, and to get in contact with her straight away is sometimes not so easy, and she's encouraging me to explore it myself.

BUT I have found reikilearninglounge, and I am really happy about it Very Happy

    Thank you again Colin!

Hi Gerli, welcome. Apologies for not being able to greet you sooner, I was in an all day class from Monday to Thursday last week, began to catch up on things on Friday, and then was in another all day class on Saturday. But now I'm back and am catching up even more.

Your question inspired me to write a bit of a response, and on account of its length felt it was more appropriate in a separate thread:
