So, does your lineage run back via Arthur Robertson then?
This might explain why your teacher holds this belief.

    Symbols....hmmm.....interesting discussion

Post by Soozi on Sat May 02, 2009 8:15 pm

Hi all, I've just read through this and found it most baffling! Never heard of most of the 'styles' mentioned here. For what my contribution is worth I know three symbols, CKR, SH and HJZSN. These have proved quite sufficient over the last few years so far....my understanding has been that the symbols in themselves are not so important as the focus they provide for the practitioner. I've always assumed that there was no right or wrong symbols, just different intent....

I would tend to agree with you on this one. Although the prevailing theory is that the symbols are more than focusing tools, but rather they are the system.

I'm not sure that isn't just linguistic gymnastics thought.

Ultimately, I think that if you follow your heart and let that guide you with impeccable intent and integrity, you will not go wrong.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Reiki on the internet! Laughing

I would suggest you practice what you were taught if you find some things on here confusing. When I hear something new or a new way of looking at something and it makes me think "AHA!" and makes crystal clear sense - only then do I think about changing the way I practice! Smile

But it is always good to hear views from other people and their experiences. There are now so many 'styles' of Reiki out there it can be very confusing, scratch particularly if you have only done a single style yourself! The main thing to remember is that if you have been attuned (received Reiju) to Reiki with a lineage back to Mikao Usui, and are practicing what you were taught, you are practicing Reiki - and all our talk about the details of history, methodology and even symbols need not affect the way you practice, if you feel comfortable with your current practice. Cool

True bro, Smile . As long as one has the connection, and mindfully abides by the principles, this is good. If though, one cares to look deeper, and if they are lucky enough to even catch a small glimpse of other things, it can really help. This is cause any knowledge discovered, academically, can shift a person's perception. And this shifted perception, is what can deepen things greatly.

I know i'm saying what you already know yourself bro, hehe. Just making a general comment, Smile .

    take care
