Confusion about Symbols and their meanings...

Post by thehungrycaterpillar on Tue Apr 21, 2009 5:00 am

    Hi Peeps,

Recently I have been taught a LOT of symbols and after digging around found them to be from Karuna Reiki. confused

I thought my RMT was strictly 'Usui'???!!

Anyways, the symbols are all same but the meanings and the suggestions it's being used for are all so different and what does one do, just follow what my RMT taught me?

How many symbols do you guys use on a regular basis anyways?

    cyclops

    Thanks,

    THC

After having been attuned to 4 different systems that all have their own symbols, and having channeled 4 of my own, I can confidently say that there is a ton of redundancy cross-systems.

But your RMT trained you a particular way, and probably did your attunements a particular way. I've found that if your RMT teaches you symbols, they will probably use those symbols in the attunement process. I'd use what your RMT taught you.

However, you can never go wrong the more simple you try to make something. The simplest way to go, is use the standard 3 from Reiki II (CKR, SHK, and HSZSN).

Or you can ask for inner advice, and the first answer that comes to your mind before you actually start thinking about it, is probably the correct answer.

    Really? Cool
What Reiki did you get attuned to?
I did not learn the Antakarna. I got the traditional 3 and a ton of others that looks like from Karuna reiki. I thought my RM/T was strictly Usui. Smile

Tell me about what you use... Basketball Thanks,

    I attuned do traditional Reiki

the Antakarana assembled of 4 symbols:

the first symbol have a male energy (yang)
hes connecting as to the ground he works on power,strength...

the second symbol have a feminine energy (yin)
    works on emotions dreams imaginations.

the third symbol is for the hurt chakra
open as to love and compassion.

the fourth symbol disconnecting as form thoughts
and preapare as to an astral journey.

although I didnt gave you the symbols the most important thing to know is
never use the fourth symbol without the first symbol

    Hiya
I was attuned to the 3 usual symbols plus 2 master symbols, and my RMT also gave me the Antahkarana, which I don't feel comfortable with so I don't use. Other symbols came along: the Nin Giz Zida came while I was having my Master attunement! I read Christopher Penczak's book The Magick of Reiki, which has loads of symbols in there. Sometimes I use the ones I'm drawn to, sometimes I don't. What I would appreciate here, if such a thing is possible, is what symbols are used within what traditions. I understand if people want to keep them secret, but I'd find it really useful!

Hmm, that's going to be quite some collective task for forum members. [ just in case folks missed it - emphasis on 'collective']

As a general guide, most styles recognised as 'Usui' Reiki use the three symbols commonly taught at level 2
(though different styles have different versions of these three symbols, and some have different names for them).
Most, though not all, also use the 'master' symbol.

New 'styles' of Reiki are continually coming into being (with some its a case of 'blink and you miss it' - they disappear as quickly as they appeared)

Many new styles have at least one or two symbols which are unique to them.
Commonly, they also make use of some of the 'traditional' Usui Reiki symbols.

Many also adopt symbols from other modern-day 'evolutions' of Usui Reiki, such as the symbols from Arthur Robertson's Raku Kei Reiki: eg. 'Dumo', 'Raku' and Nin Giz Zida'.
(The various 'Usui-Tibetan' brands borrow heavily from Raku Kei)

Symbols originating in the lineage running through Kathleen Milners 'Tera Mai' Seichem system are also commonly used by many styles [including Karuna Reiki and Karuna Ki]
these include the double CKR (ie. a 'regular' CKR paired with a 'mirror-image' CKR) with inwardturning spirals, another double CKR with outward-turning spirals, zonar, harth, mara, andhalu

Then there are also the symbols such as 'angel wings', 'cho ku ret', and 'eeftchay(?)' from Seichim (based on Patrick Zeiglers work) [as opposed to Seichem, and also not to be confused with Sekkem, SayChem or other similar-sounding styles]

Blue Lotus Seichem uses the infinity symbol, CKR, SHK, HSZSN, Cho ku ret, Angel Wings, Male-Female Balance, Shum, Eeeftchay, DKM, and a symbol called High-Low-God(?)

Phoenix Seichim has .... Fire wings, Anla, Mayuram, Tinashi, Purple flame, Phoenix’s eye, Fetar, Cho Ku Ret, Falon, Aset-Tet, Rebeh, Ankh ba, Yondalo, Eon, The Heptagon, Avakum Zaho, Avoil Eno, Sacred palm, Raku, Dai Ko Mio, Agora [ - might have missed one or two Smile ]

Others stick to using the Usui-symbols and a symbol called Tamarasha – which is actually the central symbol in a modern (non Reiki-derived) system of symbol-healing called Kofutu. (According to Kofutu's founder, Frank Homan, Tamarasha is the name of an 'Ascended Master' he works with.)

Some use an alternative to the DKM created by Diane Stein (actually a modified form of the Dumo symbol from Raku Kei Reiki)

Yes black and white. That's interesting about blue and gold - is the darker colour blue?

James that's very useful. I thought the Raku was part of the original Usui?

As for the Tamarasha, I have this from my Reiki master, apparently he used it when he attuned me. He says he felt led to use it - "the Reiki took over" he said! I always wondered where it came from, as I like it myself.

    How interesting!
