Hello everyone,

My name is Marty and I am glad to be able to join you. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and find the topics very interesting.

I initially studied Usui/Tibetan Reiki in 1999 and after that took training in Karuna Reiki and a number of initiations in myraid western styles. I really do not practice any of these styles anymore.

I found the answers I was searching for in Japanese styles and took Komyo Reiki Kai training in 2005.

I also practise Ama Deus Shamanic Healing.

Looking forward to many insightful conversations. This may be a topic for another thread but I recently purchased a copy of Tanaka's Taireido.

I recently purchased it online from Frank Shortt. The book is very interesting. I have yet to finish it but the philosophy of Taireido sounds very similar to Usui Sensei's Usui Reiki Ryoho. Tanaka's description of "Reishi" sounds similar to how I relate to reiki. That it is the great energizing and healing force that comes from the great spirit. The descriptions of the energy itself and it's nature do not remind me of reiki. This energy of reishi appears much more dense than Usui sensei's as it moves the physical body and the reishi boards. Must be an excellent energy for removing blocks within the physical body.

A excellent insight into teate healing at the time.

Tanaka's distance healing method is very similar to the photograph healing method.
Also the section on treatments for various illnesses and diseases echoes of the reiki ryoho hikkei. Perhaps there is a connection.

FOr sure, Frank's a member here, he was instrumental in bringing TaiReido out to the world. I'd intially thought also that it looked similar. i'd heard though there were a few different disciplines around at the time, that had some similarities.
