Apparently Dr. Usui have said something along the lines (Reiki Ryoho Gokkai hand book) that He was having hard time to explain how reiki works and that he believed that the day will come naturally when it will be understood.

Is anybody familiar with Reiki Ryoho Gokkai hand book (if it exist at all) and if this is the fact?

Hi Resko

You have picked something that we haven't noticed past our nose, and i feel this question has not been floated ever before.

I have belief that he passed on to us the complete system through initiations i.e., spiritual flavour, instructions, empowerments and his legacy too... So if i try to tie up my this belief to the quote you referred, it makes quite a better sense, and in a way, completes the picture.

Why he was 'certain' that his system will be completely understood in coming times? Had he envisioned that the people of a later era will be better 'equipped' to understand and apply the system better than the people of his era OR that he believed his system will 'evolve' and will 'complete itself' while passing through certain subtelities?

A third possibility that did he have referred to scientific developments of future that would enable people to understand his system better than before

Very interesting indeed and I think from what I learned and read so far the following:
1.We have the whole system completed by Ususi and there is nothing more to "evolve" but US.
2. Reading the quote Resko provided I think and feel that the third sugestion Salman gives here is most likely of all the three.
As Usui says : He cannot explane how it works and it will become naturally when is understood,
which by my oppinion means when is accpeted as it is and scientist can explane the way Reiki actually does work through us and onto others.

This is my oppinion as a newbie and I don't expect someone to agree with me
I allowed myself to get involved in this topic as it's really interesting to have some light over the way Usui was thinking
and the meaning of his expressions and thoughts in his teachings.
