they came from Japan. A place spiritual, from a spiritual path, taught by an exceptionally spiritual man. It's limited my understanding, but knowing what i do bout the Japanese 100 years ago, i find it curious they'd need something to help them focus. Hehe, were folks that 'backward' mentally up to 100 years ago, that they needed this kinda assitance to focus?

Hi everyone

Does anyone know what would happen if you did not get the symbol exactly right?

I sometimes struggle with the remembering the distance symbol, do you think it would still work?

I also read somewhere that the symbols are not always necessary as long as you set your intention, would love to know your comments and if you think that would help me when I sometimes get the symbols wrong

Hi!

When the symbols are placed 'in' us, where do they go?

Do they go thru the energyfield and into the chakras?

How does a symbol affect the energyfield?

what if it was written in english or any other language?

Is the only reason that it all started out in japanese that we still are using it?

or

Do the characters have a specific impact on our energy field? Straight lines, geometric patterns..etc,.??

We have great people who started their styles within Reiki... they added symbols as per perception and effectiveness... some of them even got detached from the mainstream reiki and continued in 'developing' and 'fine tuning' their respective systems...

as Reiki Masters, we all have got 'powers' to use DKM that way, and to 'introduce' something, and of course, such things will work without doubt, since DKM empowers us for the things in focus and for things 'coming later' !

Here is an interesting page I stumbled upon. Some of you may have already seen it. I know that these symbols are a sacred thing, and are traditionally handed down from the Master to the Pupil.... But today u can find the Master symbol even on many book covers, needless to say that they are all over the web. Anyway I found this page quite interesting. http://www.cedarseed.com/air/reiki.html

Here is an insightful view of symbols in the practice of Reiki and in our lives generally from Phyllis Furumoto on her Radio Show:

http://www.reikitalkshow.com/shows/view/73/archive_page:2

It is very enlightening and the symbols are the topic for the whole month of April so it will be interesting to hear the other programes in this series.

There is a lot of food for thought in what she says (and does not say!).

In Plain Sight

The 4 Reiki symbols that Usui sensei's student passed onto Takata sensei can mean much more than at first glance appears. Throughout known history, in many mystery schools, or wider spiritual groups, many things have been hidden. In plain sight. Quite often it's simply stories specific to the path in question. Sometimes though, the very teachings of the path are there, or the deeper mysteries, including the workings and purpose of the whole path...

A few months ago, I drew Zonar every night for about 2 weeks--thought I had successfully used zonar (I stopped feeling energy/heat between my hands) so I moved on to the next symbol (harth.)

But a few days ago, I tried to alleviate my headache with Reiki--and when I couldn't, I drew Zonar, and felt heat between my hand--making me think my karmic issues/blockages weren't permanently dealt with a few months ago like I thought.

Question: is zonar to be done periodically to undue blockages/heal ...

Hi All

Here is an excellent article about the origins of HSZSN by Frans and Bronwen Steine.

A couple of years ago I sent them a scan of a picture I discovered in a book about Ninjas, which was a series of 3 charms, one of which contained a version of HSZSN but overlapped in a slightly different way to that used in Reiki. This charm was said to be for good luck.

However, it now seems that Frans and Bronwen have done some deeper research based on this and discovered the origin of this ...

I see all as one infinite energy, that my mind really cannot comprehend, so i struggle with word and ideas to come as close as i can, to an understanding. I asked for an explanation, and on level 3 he learned raku, dai ko mio soul (which he said was known as the master symbol) and dai ko mio group.

After pointing out the raku was an addition from raku kai, we started the discussion on the dai ko mio variations.

Hi Peeps,

Recently I have been taught a LOT of symbols and after digging around found them to be from Karuna Reiki.

I thought my RMT was strictly 'Usui'???!!

Anyways, the symbols are all same but the meanings and the suggestions it's being used for are all so different and what does one do, just follow what my RMT taught me?

How many symbols do you guys use on a regular basis anyways?

Thanks,
